Talks

“The Way Is Hard But The Heart Knows The Way”

My talk gives the family caregiver an entry point to reduce their stress and increase their confidence.   I talk about my own life experience that activated my inner knowing and how the wisdom of the body applies to care-giving.  The emphasis is on being vs. doing and returning over and over to the body for answers.

My talk is approximately 10 minutes long.  I prefer to present it in a forum format because it encourages questions and conversations that benefit all.

Classes

Class #1:

“You Have To Start Somewhere And Where You Start Is Good Enough”

With all the worry, overwhelm and fear, caregivers sometimes doubt themselves and question whether their actions are of the highest benefit for their loved ones. As they try harder and harder to think their way through challenges, it can feel like a cat chasing its tail!  This class will help the caregiver understand that wherever they begin the process of caring for their loved one is good enough.  They will come away with new tools in their care-giving tool box to identify what gets in the way of trusting themselves to make the right choices, and better be able to identify their own needs.

Class #2:

“Having Those Difficult Conversations With Your Loved One”

In caregiving for your loved one, there are important conversations to be had that can sometimes be discouraging, painful, or even frightening. This class will help caregivers look for the deeper meaning of challenging situations. Caregivers will learn to apply concepts from the prior class, including a 5-step process useful to minimize the likelihood of blaming either themselves or others during difficult conversations.
